Some gardens flaunt their knowledge of geometry. Some wish you to know how much work was involved. Some verge on the wild at heart. Experience them all on a tour of our gardens from west to east.

View a statewide map of all our public gardens.

Naumkeag, Stockbridge, MA
Tour a famous Berkshire country estate in a spectacular setting with delightful gardens by celebrated landscape architect Fletcher Steele. Try the new garden audio tour and, during the month of May, catch the tree peonies in bloom.

The Mission House, Stockbridge, MA

Ashintully Gardens, Tyringham, MA
Surrounded by forested hills, the gardens were designed by composer John S. McLennan, Jr. A stream traversed by two bridges, rambling lawns, a cathedral of deciduous trees, and a central fountain create a soothing harmony. A short trail ascends to the ruins of Ashintully’s original mansion, where walkers enjoy fine views of the valley.

Farandnear, Shirley, MA
Near enough for regular visits, but with a feeling of remoteness that will transport you far from your cares, Farandnear lives up to its name.

The Stevens-Coolidge Place, North Andover, MA
Step back in time and learn how the Coolidge family transformed a 1700’s family farm into a bucolic summer estate in the early 1900’s. House features original collections, murals and unique garden glimpses.

Long Hill, Beverly, MA
Explore cultivated gardens, an extraordinary woody plant collection, an apple orchard and meadow, a network of woodland trails – even a children’s garden and organic farm!

Castle Hill on the Crane Estate, Ipswich, MA
Take a guided historic walking tour of this grand, early-20th-century summer estate by the sea and learn about the designs of Boston landscape architects Olmsted Bros. and Arthur Shurcliff.

Eleanor Cabot Bradley Estate, Canton, MA
A colonial farmstead-turned-country–estate, this well-designed mix of formal gardens, fields, and woodlands can be explored along 3 miles of trails.

Gov. Oliver Ames Estate, Easton, MA
Explore a part of Massachusetts history on this bucolic estate, first settled by Oliver Ames, who served as the Governor of the Commonwealth in the early 19th century.

Allen C. Haskell Public Gardens, New Bedford, MA
With local community partners, The Trustees are working to transform this former nursery into a vibrant park for the people of New Bedford and beyond.

Mytoi Gardens, Chappaquiddick Island, MA
Nestled within Chappaquiddick Island on Martha's Vineyard, emerald-like, is the intimate Japanese-style garden, Mytoi, which offers natural serenity and a place of contemplation to visitors who venture here. Sheltered by a lovely pine grove, the preserve includes a small pond and island, non-native and native flowers and plants, footpaths leading past a birch walk and stone garden, and a trail winding toward Poucha Pond and the salt marsh.
